John Prine vs Toby Kieth

From Johns new CD : Some humans aint human, some people aint kind, they lie through their teeth, with their head up their behind.
When your feeling your freedom, and the worlds off your back, some cowboy from Texas starts his own war in Iraq

i see where Neil Young gathered some folks to make an Impeach Bush record, should be out soon

I won't go so far as to say music has lost all its power, but its impact seems to have lessened. Neil Young is a bit late on this one, or so I am inclined to think.

How long after the Kent State killing did Ohio come out? Care to wager whether the new album will have more of an affect than the classic song?

Your right about the timing, but if it re-invigorates the tradition of political protest music (that us old timers can listen to) Im grateful nonetheless. Ani diFranco has been working it.Others?

There has been a lot of punk rock protesting Bush. There were two "Rock Against Bush" comps put out on Fat Wreck Cords, and Anti-Flag, NoFX, and Against Me!, among others, have stood out against the war policies of the president.

The problem is that no viable alternative has presented itself. I'm almost willing to concede the democrats can do a better job, if only because they're more honest about taking our money and using it for goodness knows what.

Anyone can attack a bad idea. Good ideas are much harder to come by, and seem to be sorely lacking.

There are plenty of viable alternatives and none of them fall within the American political spectrum. Bush and Co. may be the best thing to happen to American politics ever...that is, alternatives to the least desirable form of democracy may begin to be investigated! For the sake of humanity, let's hope so!

I think Eric Mentioned Jello Biafra as someone doing thoughtful dissent music.

oil prices continue upward and the stock market gains almost 200 points today?

Democrats can only re-arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic, we are talking about changing course altogether. There is a rich American tradition of radical alternatives that is being revived.
