How the Germans do struggle with a certain"tendency". From an article in the Nation: "Dr. Anderj Holm, a 36 year old urban sociologist at Berlin's Humboldt University, was arrested July 31. Holm's alleged crimes are that he had 'close contacts' with the three charged academics (of arson) and possibly other; participated in the 'extreme left-wing' protest against the 2007 Heilgendamn G-8 economic summit..and that he 'intentionally'left his cell phone at home hours before a meeting. In a Kafkaesque touch, his lack of a cellphone- hindering the efforts of German authorities to track him- is deemed 'conspiritorial behavior'.The authorities also cited Holm's frequent use of the terms'gentrification' and 'inequality' in his work as pointing to his alliance with the militant group." Guilt by association is bad enough but Using The Wrong Words?
This whole Global War of Terror thing is really over the top, and one might expect the Germans to be particularly sensitive to civil rights, given certain "instances" in their not-to-distant past. What might I be charged with for not even owning a cellphone? I lived in Germany for four years in self-imposed exile and found them a joyless and anal lot. With exceptions. Dick Cheney would fit in quite well. Might have something to do with the grey, wet weather.
As I was waiting in line at the little country store in Wisdom Montana (pop.85) I overheard a gentleman commenting on the dry, hot weather and asking the clerk how much snow they recieved in winter. She replied that they didn't get near as much as in the past and the fellow said: "That lunatic Al Gore would probably try to tell you it was because of man-caused global warming!" They both got a chuckle out of that. As usual, I thought of the perfect rejoinder about ten miles down the road.
"I think there are still those that don't believe global climate change is occurring because they are constantly bombarded with information in the media.. said UM Climatologist Faith Ann Heinsch. "And this brings a sense of anxiety and a fear that their way of living is going to change and they don't want to accept that." A polite way of saying ignorant greedy people are in denial. She is leading a series of conversations intended to "help the local faith community embrace the reality of global warming." Buena suerte.

Doesn't make you sick to want to defend Al Gore? I have been in similar situations.

Law enforcement works on resonable suspicion and profiling. Lets face the facts that you are more apt statistically to engage in terrorism, espoinanage and treason than the general public. Your pattern of travels alone should place you under some scrutiny.
We heard this before when Sami Al Arian, Lynne Stewart and others were arrested. The evidence against all of the above proved sufficient.
I am in favor of denaturalization and deportation of communists who violate our laws. What better way to reward the faithful than by sending them one way to live with Kim Jong Mentally Ill.
Beakerkin has a good point about communists; and just think, you would get permanent residence outside of the evil empire, the source of all the world's problems, the reason for all the calamity of the past two centuries, the dark force that invented conquest, slavery, disrespect for human rights, etc. It would have the additional benefit of allowing society to redistribute your wealth to the people (your house, car, etc; and your "literature" collection, Chomsky et al, could be used as cheap shims in renovation projects). Finally, a dream realized, not deferred.
Poor Troutsky, plagued by irrelevant blotches of venom by the spittlemeisters once again. I can almost remember a time when I enjoyed your blog and the comments, now the comments have become cesspools of diarreal bile. Sorry.
Their comments are instructive. These fellows would have risen to positions of importance within the KBG and Stassi police.Having no sense of irony, they wave the flag and promote totalitarianism.

This is a clear case of projection. You are on record supporting regimes that have extensive armies of finks and repress the civilian defense.
One again you as well as your clueless epigone have missed the point entirely. The standard of law enforcement for scrutiny is probable cause. A communist with your travel itenerary has exponentially a higher risk of being a terrorist and espionage then the general public. The Rosenbergs, Bill Ayers, the Unibomber are ample evidence of criminality associated with your views.
The First Amendment does not protect criminal acts. Keep your dissent non-violent and legal.
If you violate the law you should be denaturalized and deported. Since you think Communism is so wonderful you can live in North Korea.
In fact once you are there you can proclaim yourself America's greatest defect.
Perhaps the counterpart to the chicken hawk bit is chicken collectivist. If you are going to advocate communism you should move to Cuba with your wife ASAP. Renounce your citizenship and burn your passport.
If you are going to be an appologist for Castro you should join him. While in Cuba you could visit Gitmo or become a prostitute if you want a good meal. If your morals are even lower you can be a party member. Maybe you can live next to convicted cop killer Joanne Chesimard. The person Ren pretend doesn't exist.
