Liberal Media

Like Rush and Hannity, I'm wondering why the Liberal Media does'nt talk about all the good news coming out of New Orleans and Mississippi ? Surely there must be some toilets flushing in the outlying areas. Just like they do in Iraq, it's just nattering nabobs of negativity (Thanks Spiro Agnew) and spreading malaise and they never talk about all the puppies and popsicles and cute things.

Fortunately there are still a few things that transcend politics. Unfortunately, it is, at least usually, only tradgedies that do so.

Surely you will admit that on a political issue--such as the War in Iraq--one cannot come down in the center. CNN, for example may be coming down on the left--whatever that means--in regards to the war, but for the most part you are right in ignoring Rush and Hannity tirades. The men are political hacks and will remain so.

The truth is usually buried somewhere in the middle.

Wiser man, I understand the negative connotation associated with "politicizing" things, such as tragedies. But it seems to me in the real world all things have a political element as well as social, economic, psychological, etc. which can help us to explain the objective conditions and we should be aware of the agenda of those who would wish us to de-couple politics from our experiences or to demonize it.

As for the Holy Center, I too believe it is a limp, hollow milktoast place to exist despite the belief that "wisdom" resides there. In the system of dialectics ,positions well beyond the mainstream are required in order to balance those from the opposite end of the spectrum. Things get blurry when these linguistic labels such as conservative, progressive, leftist, reactionary etc are used arbitrarily. I operate from what many would call the far left but hope to see ideas spawned from this same tradition that, that goe beyond, or as you say, transcend, my own.
My rant here was about the common practice from the right to stereotype the "left" and obfuscate the real issues.
