Moral Imperialism
From The United States and Mexico by Howard F Cline:
By early 1914 President Woodrow Wilson had lost his patience with Mexico, and an incident in Tampico on April 9 furnished an excuse to move against Huerta.Strung along the Panuco river were foreign-owned oil installations...chiefly British. From a dock that everyone had been forbidden by Huerta's Federalists to use,Americans had been loading gasoline into a whaleboat flying the American flag and were arrested. Admiral Mayo received an apology but demanded that the Mexicans "hoist the American flag and salute it with twenty one guns".
The Mexicans refused and on April 13 Wilson spent the whole day studying what he ought to do.He had convinced himself that Huerta was deliberately launching a campaign to lower the dignity of the U.S...The whole Atlantic fleet was then ordered to Tampico. Huertas Minister of Affairs informed the American Charge' de Affaires that Huerta would fire the salute if the U.S. would guarantee to return it immediately...Wilson brushed it aside and requested that Congress approve his use of armed force. At 11:30 am on April 21 the United States Navy took the principle port of Veracruz.
This was a lesson for the Iranians and Iraqis and Venezuelans and anybody else who thought that " the nations sub-soil wealth belongs to the state." This arcane provision only applies to the U.S.and client states.Nicaragua, the Philipines and other Central American and Caribbean nations got similar demonstrations.
So the logic of the capitalist state is pretty straightforward but what is surprising is some of the morons they get to run the ship itself.Bill Moyers played the recorded phone conversations of Lyndon Johnson as he was deciding how to prosecute the Vietnam War. He calls friends and advisors, even Bobby Kennedy, hoping somebody can tell him how to unravel himself from the "damn mess" he has been handed and what is most shocking is the level of discussion, it's banal, instrumental, pathetically shallow quality.
We all know the kinds of arguments Obama is hearing as he deliberates the same deathly question: How many more should be sacrificed? Strategic goals, political ramifications , moral questions and above all else , economic factors: how will it look to our competitors if we bail? What will we do with all these soldiers and "defence" industries if we don't have our war on?

A Communist questioning the morals of America given there own history is a warped joke. Communism is a criminal death cult. Will the practitioners of planned starvation and class genocide return to reality.
Beak, who writes your material? Could you please ask for some new stuff?
I'd like to say more but Comrade Kim Jong-Il has invited me to champagne and lobster brunch in Pyongyang.

the Philipines? It's always confused me that we had to kill a few hundred thousand to bring them the benefits of "freedom and democracy" especially at a time when they were developing their own democratic institutions.
It was pretty disgusting, but don't tell the Beak that there is blood on our hands.
I have a whole bunch of photo postcards from some of our early adventures in Nicaragua. They were passed down from my great uncle who was in the armed forces there, gunboats and bombed out buildings ... place must have been filled with commies to make it necessary for us to trash it.
Ducny
Who needs material when talking about morality with commies. Glad you mentioned Kim Jong Mentally Ill
a perfect example of Marxist failure.
The Philippines is an excellent example of the maladies of Marx and a genocidal Muslim minority. The blood in the Philippines is traceable to both.
You need to look at more recent history of Genocide in Nicaragua against Indians with Pseudostinian
mercenaries while the left cheered
the Sandinazis. Did anyone place Ortega or Borge in front of the hauge for crimes against humanity?
The sons of Marx are a fraud.
Obama is most likely getting advice to triangulate. His speech that is coming, has already been released in bits and pieces to prepare for the escalation announcement. In the end the Taliban will still have power in Afghanistan. Political Islam was a US imperialism creation, going back earlier than war with the Russians. Islamic Fundamentalism and capitalism go hand in hand.
Has anyone ever heard Beak attack an actual idea of Marx's? I heard straw man arguments. Beak has never attacked my real ideas or Troutsky's.
Beak: Do you know about North Korea's concept of Juche'? Explain how it's Marxist?
Beak is scared to debate real ideas.
We need socialism like air to breathe.
What advice is Obama getting about Honduras?
Like they did with Iraqi Awakening, they will "deal" with those Taliban that will take cash. Purchasing warlords will be expensive however.
Ducky, there is a fascinating story there, you ought to pursue it.
Beak is the greatest proponent of Americanism I have run into but United Fruit Company had a great run.
Beak, if we nationalized some defense industries and tried to take the profit out of armaments do you think we'd have lower deficits, less graft and fewer mindless military campaigns?
Just curious.
"This was a lesson for the Iranians and Iraqis and Venezuelans and anybody else who thought that " the nations sub-soil wealth belongs to the state."
In as much as I loathe the US state-corporate juggernaut's international drive to expropriate resources from local peoples, I'm not sure the incorporation of the resources into state trusts is desirable either. We've seen enough state capitalism masquerading as collectivism. Although I'm not convinced by Beak's sudden concern for native peoples (I suppose he couldn't bring himself to bring up the FSLN's persecution of homosexuals- anti-communism makes strange bedfellows, but not THAT strange, eh beak?) I am aware of state claims to subsoil wealth wreaking havoc on indigenous communities in both capitalist and "socialist" economies.
trout, I really wish my great uncle had kept a diary. The pictures are quite interesting but lack detailed notations.
One is a picture of some arrests being made, no inscriptions.
Oh, has anyone told Beak we invaded the Philippines before the Bolshevik rise to power so it may be premature to blame it on the commies.
Beak may wish to research Mark Twain and the "Anti Imperialist League" to get a little taste of the breadth of American history.
Lets do this slowly for the developmentally disabled commies.
Death cult tactic 101
1) Pretend that exposed death cultists are amything but Commies.
Kim Jong Ill is a perfect example of Marx in action.
Also from the death cult play list
bandy straw man when you have no facts.
Commies have no new ideas, just recycled failed nonsense.
Duncy
Are you denying the presence of Communist guerrillas and Muslim seperatist in the Philippines it would seem that you need to read more.
Copeland
Lets see in order to discuss American cries against Native Americans one needs to go circa 1880. When discussing communist crimes one needs to go 1980 or visit Hugo's crack den and stray from the Theresienstadt tour favored by Troutsky.
More reality based than Ren, but so was Michael Jackson and Peter Pan.
Troutsky
You are an ignoramus and too stupid to be as evil as Che Bob. You need to live permanently in North Korea.

No Beak, I am telling your ignorant ass that we killed 200,000+ back in the day when Garfield and McKinley decided we should have an empire.
Now I need to give you some geographical background because you aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer. The Philippines is very close to Malaysia and does have a Muslim population.
Elements of that population have been in revolt and feel closer culturally to muslim states like Malaysia. Simple.
Now what does that have to do with our invasion of the Philippines, the Huk rebellion and the general history of the area. It is exceptionally arrogant for you to tell others to do some reading when your grasp of history isn't even developed to a basic level.
But stick around Beak, you will learn and it will benefit you.
"Lets see in order to discuss American cries against Native Americans one needs to go circa 1880."
I assume you mean "crimes"? What about the massacre of over 200 men, women and children at Wounded Knee in 1890? What about the suppression of native religious rights by the US government up into the 1950s, or the or the forced sterilizations of native women by the IHS up till the mid-1970s? Shall I bring up the high rates of cancer, water contamination and birth defects on areas of the Four Corners reservation turned over for uranium development by eminent domain?
You know jack-fucking-shit, friend.
