More Trouble

I wanted to point out a couple more of what I see as the main themes of these celebrating conservatives. On the macro level they definitely are not interested in joining any New World Order. This includes the United Nations or global currencies or any thing having to do with global warming but I wonder about global trade or global security?

They are totally into a moral order and believe all rights come from God.Basically, divine rights and perhaps a Sharia type system of laws? (I'm just speculating here) On the nation/ state level they are totally into the Republic and not real hot on democracy. ( Two wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for dinner)There were books on the Greeks, I imagine this comes from Plato? They have spent a lot of time with Madison and the Federalist papers and none with Jefferson. Strict constructionists, all about separation of powers and borders, boundaries, enclosures. Individual as opposed to collective rights and a fetishized discourse on the Founding Fathers and Christianity and self-reliance.Totally about the bottom line, they hate taxes and rate politicians of both parties by how much money they vote to appropriate. Does this include defence?
I wonder how concerned with minority rights they will be once they control the state?

The Bitterroot Human Rights Network met here last night and got the analysis all wrong, in my opinion. They wanted to link them to local racist, Christian Identity movements and militia types but I think these folks are more sophisticated, they have evolved and adapted and just baiting the trap with this whole Second Amendment thing. The Network is mostly liberals and they have trouble finding terrain on which to challenge libertarians because it is all based on Enlightenment liberal values and a liberal belief in Markets, Freedom, Rights, Property and Justice.

"There is...something oppressive about the ethereal and abstracted universalism that typically lies at the heart of any purely moral discourse."

Good Lord the mother of all clown diatribes.

Lets see the cult of death that has produced Killing Fields, Gulags and planned starvation is worried about laws coming from God. History has proven that when man is elevated to
god by Marx people die by millions.

No doubt Kultur will wallow by with some odd rationalization of how Communism is hardly unique in creating scores of bodies.

Then Renegade Testicle will blame the repeated deaths on Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot or claim his variety is unique.

beak, we all know each others arguments pretty well.I find a gap in logic when people so worried about checks and balances and absolute power accept absolute truth claims and religious authority. Along with Stalin we have the Taliban and Crusades.( did I take kulturs part? oops)

I'm actually interested in places where my beliefs and goals converge with these folks, strange as it might seem. Autonomous liberty and rights-based justice for all is necessary but not sufficient for emancipation. The human rights group approach is anti-discourse and anti-political and only feeds into the neoliberal loop.

So unemployment hit 10.2 percent today (18 percent if you use the broader indicator). So my question is why he isn't talking about additional targeted stimulus.

Seems to me what happened here is that they found out things on The Street were much worse than they thought and bringing back the old days was going to require everything in Larry Summers' bag. Everything else could take a back seat.
Laissez les bon temps roulez on Wall Street was (and still is) Job 1.

They'll deal with unemployment later but with corporations reporting a 6% productivity gain there may not be a lot of incentive to pressure labor costs by hiring.

Just today a fairly large local maker of solar panels announced it was packing it up for China. This bleeding is going to go on for a long time and it ain't got nothing to do with "R' or "D". Got everything to do with Goldman Sachs.

Best thing they have going for them is this Dem vs. Rep dichotomy. It may be worth paying attention to on some levels now since the R side has drifted so far from any sane policy but it isn't anything but a very near term tactic.

Troutsky

Do you smoke weed with Graeme.

The Crusades were 1000 years ago. They were a defensive response to Muslim Aggression.

The Taliban has not killed 100,000,000. Any comparison of the Taliban to commies is an insult to the Taliban

Ducky: Wall Street's response has been to create new derivatives, to start the cycle back again.

It's socialism or barbarism.

Beakerkin is correct what he said, last post that Stalinism isn't a force in the world now. He is yet to explain why they supported until they couldn't anymore The Shah, Batista, Sukarno, Somoza etc. Why was Chiang Kai Shek's party part of the Comintern? The answer is that Stalinism is a different philosophy than revolutionary socialism. It was not an accident that in Animal Farm, Orwell called the Stalin character Napoleon. Stalinism is Bonapartism. Orwell differentiated Napoleon from Snowball.

Troutsky; Good point about how rightist loonies, pick and choose their international conspiracies.

Rightist thought is guessing motives, and chronological analysis. That leads to conspiracy theories.

Obviously being a Death Cultist precludes one from coherent reading.
Both characters in question were pigs and the fact that one had a different name was irrelevant.

There is no such thing as Stalinism. It is the natural extension of the malady of the Marxist Death cult. All
version of Marx progress only to Death.

The names mentioned by the Gassy Sandwich are small potatoes compared to Communist killers. Of course Renegade Testicle ignores that Batista is dead 50 years and that Castro and Che Sponge Bob Guevara killed many more people and have wrecked a country that was economically on par with Spain.

The gassy sandwich ignores the role of the commies in the Iranian revolution and the deaths created far exceeded anything done by the Shah. The religious zealots killed the commies later proving a broken clock is correct twice a day.
