Does this ring as true for the Left as for the Right? For the Occident as well as the Orient? Is the Calamity the battle over the meaning of modernity?

That has universal truth written on it.
Rich vs. poor
This is not only the brilliant description of afflicted imperial power, the hurt pride of the once powerful Islamic empire,and the now wounded empire (at least in the image -realm)of US global capitalism, but could also describe the individuals reaction to his own wounds,especially those being relegated to the mega-slums of the developing world.
