Fred Hampton 1948-1969

Last Friday marked 40 years since the murder of "Chairman Fred" and Mark Clark and it is instructive to notice the difference in "martyrdoms" between Hampton the Panther and ML King Jr the pacifist. One gets a baloney sandwich on white bread while the other gets a sumptuous banquet. To understand how far we have come in forty years we compare the grin on the faces of the killer "pigs" ( these boys were real oinkers) and the serious look on the new black presidents face as he sends ghetto youth to job training programs in Afghanistan. " I have a dream!"

Barbara Lee did cast a lonely vote and there are plenty of courageous blacks still in resistance but you do not hear much of Fred's fiery rhetoric any more nor see his serious "community organizing".A few students at some California universities and a few workers striking and occupying plants but for the most part the "pacification" of the people has been complete while the Capitalist State continues it's serial rampage.

In "political" terms it doesn't seem that well organized that we have the run up to Copenhagen, the announcement of the "Surge" and the Senate debate on health care reform going on simultaneously. But maybe in the upside down world of spectacular politics there is a logic I am missing. To some extent the Deer Hunting With Jesus crowd seems neutralized a bit ( or they are focused on Tiger Woods ) He was living the "Dream" but things fall apart and I suspect Bill Cosby will be terribly disappointed. Black celebrity-hood has taken some hits lately and if you like scary/weird check out a documentary called Tyson about the ex-champ.

Up here in Montana the days are ridiculously short now and the recession is catching up to us. We are a lagging indicator! I found a "progressive" blog called Left in the West where there is a discussion about the demise of Obama-mania I wrote about a couple posts back. No one wants to talk capitalism ( it's not THAT left!) but they are having trouble analyzing the disaffection because their frame is the same, exhausted legislative policy making. I might go to the gun show today and see if the Celebration is affected by light deficiency syndrome or cold weather.I wonder what the Second Amendment enthusiasts would think if Fred Hamptons ghost showed up wanting to buy some AK 47s ?

UPDATE I just read in Roll Call Max Baucus is admitting an affair with a staffer he nominated for some high post. Hangin with Tiger?

Commies still venerate criminals with
absurd PR campaigns that would be false packaging if done on a product.
The Black Panthers were a brutal street gang that dealt drugs and shook down prostitutes. No doubt screaming revolution while engaging in wholesale criminality only fools idiots and death cultists.

No doubt the same idiots claimed the Rosenbergs were innocent, until mountains of evidence stated otherwise. Then the excuse was "the Rosenberg's had a different deffinition of patriotism".

Those blacks who are in rebellion
must be outnumbered by patriots who proudly serve in our Armed forces and other law enforcement agencies ten to one.

I am amazed at Black communists telling University hacks what they
want to hear. It seems that they merely play toadies to ivory Marxist masters.

He wouldn't feel too welcome, unfortunately there's a racist component to both sides of the gun control issue. I thought this article gave a pretty good overview of the whole mess in that regard:

The Chicago Black Panthers are now the Chicago Democratic Party establishment. Bobby Rush is now in Congress.

I think MLK played a more important role than the Panthers. He always in his union support united workers, without regard to race. The Panthers organized on a racial basis, excluding white workers (DRUM Movement). I heard from people close to King, before he died, he planned to break from pacifism as a principle.

Even without police repression they were doomed; belief in the lumpen as a vanguard, nationalism, Maoism, personality cults and in the end they supported the Democratic Party.

It wasn't surprising Eldridge Cleaver became a rightist. In his book he defended his raping women as a revolutionary act. He made $$ on the church circuit.

King played a bigger role than the Panthers or Malcolm X. Malcolm X is about his potential role if he lived. He was a supporter of the Socialist Workers Party. Unfortunately they became more in support of nationalism, than he becoming Marxist. The tail wagged the dog.

Fred Hampton was murdered in his bed. the Panthers did attract some honest revolutionaries, who ended up facing the most repression.

Once again the soulless Ren misses the point that the Black Panthers were a criminal organization. What is less well known is the KGB spied
on MLK, apparently they did not trust him. MLK had good intentions, but should have distanced himself from Commies who abused his cause.

Perhaps Ren will become Superfly Renegade Eye drug dealer to the people. Then again drug dealers tend to run organized operations and keep the killings down unlike commies.

You mean after he attended the communist training center?

It's official Beak, you are certifiable.

The Panthers degenerated of course, this was not in praise of the organization.I'm just saying murder is murder. Their attorney was white.

Yodood; It was a shotgun approach. That's how my mind has been operating lately.

Ren: I agree the work King did toward the end of his life is the hidden legacy and his potential much greater than Panthers for radical change.

Ducky; Go to some of the links on his blog and you find he is "moderate"!I was doing some research there last night and it's a scary place.

Robert Kennedy also spied on MLK.

That decades black leadership was literally beheaded, opening the way for Democratic Party hacks like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

MLK definitely was moving in a socialist direction. I posted once on that subject.

Beakerkin: Beak's comrades are the ones who stuck baseball bats up a guys backside in an interrogation.

Beak would have spied on MLK, in a New York second.

Beak is a difficult case, troutsky. I actually don't think he's a mean spirited person but you get "ideas" from him like Marxism being the source of chaos in the Anglican church.

How do you deal with that type of sensibility?

I would keep in mind that doctor King was in town to organize workers when he was shot. I think the fact that the sanitation workers were primarily black was only part of his concern at that stage.

There's a drive to pay for a plaque on the brownstone where doctor King wrote his graduate thesis. Beak can probably fill us in on the Marxist theory behind it and why this effort is backed by commies.
The Charles Street jail where Malcolm did 8 to 10 is now deluxe condominiums. Time moves on in America.

... and sometimes, Beak, I walk by the old Hotel Bradford and wonder about the story (apocryphal, no doubt) that Ho Chi Minh was a dishwasher there, I'm surprised you haven't advocated just nuking Boston to be done with it all.

Whatever happened to Abner Louima the officer was tried and given a very harsh penalty. The penalty actually was more harsh than if he killed Louima.

I will contrast this with your veneration of a drug gang on this thread. This is nothing new as you venerate a war criminal with a record similar to Saddam as a messiah.

Duncy

It is a fact that the Soviets spied on MLK. Apparently they did not trust him either. It is a inconvenient fact that Marxists hacks forget.

The mess in the Anglican Church was caused by Marxist infiltration. Rowan Williams is a Marxist and the only African supporter he has is Desmond Tofu. Tofu was always more red than anything else.

Beak, you managed to explain nothing. Merely stating that someone is a Marxist only establishes a descriptive variable.
You can't attribute causation to a descriptive variable. Especially when they are applied universally to anyone who thinks Giuliani is a mobbed up arse.

Let's try to move on. Several posters here are concerned about the issue of alienation, from nature, from each other, from the structure of power and production. Would you care to comment on capitalism's positive role in reducing alienation?

Remember, we are here to help, Beak.

Does anyone doubt that Beakerkin would have committed a political assassination, as killing Fred Hampton in his bed?

Hey Beak, was Hampton a drug dealer?

Was every single Panther a drug dealer?

Ducky: Read my comments about the Panthers, than see Beak's response. Is he not a liar and a sociopath? He ducked talking about any specifics about Fred Hampton.

Beak is a binary thinker. He has no concept of contradiction.

ren, have you seen Carlos Saura's "Tango"? Interesting film that makes the dance part of the protest comment on the disappearings during Beak's favorite period in South American history.

Not as much dancing as you might like but if you haven't seen it I'd recommend it.

Now is Beak representative of the mindset that is behind Palin and other right wing threats? Does he represent a mindset that is virtually impossible to budge let alone change?
I think I listen to rabies radio too often and the general mood of the country may have more clarity than I know.

Ducky: Robert Duvall produced a movie called Assassination Tango, about gangster, who gets a job in Argentina to do a hit, and falls in love with tango. A fun movie, tainted with his idiot rightist politics. I saw Tango, and loved it. You must see The Tango Lesson.

If the Panthers were only a drug gang, we wouldn't be talking about them. They made an impression politically. What Beak's brain can't comprehend, is something can have more than one aspect. In addition there is a dynamic, one can at anytime be the primary aspect. With all their crime connections, it was Stalinism that killed them. They became Democrats.

In front of your eyes, Beak lied about my position on the Panthers. Lying is his main tactic. Another is taking what I say, and changing words.

I think he'd gladly of shot Fred Hampton. Just by his comments here you bcan tell. Do you for a minute believe he could be objective at work?

You won't learn anything listening to rightist radio. They are politically isolated. The enemy is liberalism. Obama is closer to Wall Street speculation than any president in history.

It is amazing that a person who venerates a war criminal with a record worse than Saddam would accuse anyone else of wanting to murder anyone. This is the tactic of a death cultist who lies as naturally as others breathe.

A person who advocates a criminal philosophy that has killed 100,000,000 is upset at a plunger shoved in the rectum of a suspect.
When are the Sandinazi killers of Indians going to be prosecuted. When does Mugabbe face charges for his crimes against the people of Zimbabwe. When does Chavez face charges for aiding a Narco criminal
terrorist outfit FARC.

If a US citizen has met with foreign intelligence officers, accepted money or subsidized travel from a hostile foreign government they should be denaturalized and deported.

You know Beak, I keep thinking about this 100000000 figure you throw around and how you came by it.

Probably from the Black Book, I think it is, or some similar screed.
Yeah, Russia, Poland, Belorussian, Ukraine ... they weren't the place to be in the first half of the twentieth century, were they.
Yet in you complete lack of intellectual honesty you want to hold communism responsible for the Soviet deaths in World War II or during the civil war.
You deny that the Ukrainian famine was an ethnic genocide and not primarily a political act.

The Gulag was a horror, absolutely. But was Stalin the first to look for slave labor? How do the number of deaths stack up against our slaughter in Vietnam or the purge of an enormous number of people by Sukarno in Indonesia?
See history is full of slaughter, Beak and you don't have the honesty to look at it square on.

Yes, Mao's policy starved a large number of people in China. It happened and we don't know the scale.
A hero of the far right Rudy Republicans, Chiang Kai-shek was also a butcher and war lord of the first order. Do you ever talk about the White Terror in Taiwan? No, because you are a typical right winger who can't look at the complexities of the world and you need to hide behind your paper pusher job where you feel safe and secure.

There are enough folks like you just sitting with their eyes closed playing three monkeys that people are pushed into an armed response and you just don't have the honesty to look at your complicity in a devastating economic system.

That's you Beak, see no, hear no, speak no ... three monkeys in your heart. I feel bad for you.

Wrong on all counts. Mao wins hands down on any discussion of brutality. His Marx inspired killings were not during a time of conflict.

The butchery in Vietnam was caused by communists. Opposing Communism and its death cult messes is a worthwhile endeavor, ask people that lived under it.

The Soviets are directly responsible for the deaths in WW2.
They formed an alliance with the Nazis and divided Europe. Their Nazis allies turned on the Soviets who went begging for help.

Getting your own people killed is not a virtue. The oft cited 20 million number includes 1-5 million Jews in the Holocaust and people killed by Stalin himself.

The Ukranian genocide was a communist crime against humanity.
It is a long never ending list of crimes committed by a rabid death cult.

Any attempt to deflect or demarxify
the deaths caused by Communism is on a par with Holocaust denial.

He never was on topic once.

over all the black panther were/are a very radical group, but that doesn't make all members violent and bad. if you look more into Hampton or other members you will find some did not agree with violence. calling Fred Hampton evil is like calling all Nazis evil (tons of the Nazi were forced into service to protect family for being murdered). a person is more then the group they belong to.
