I found Jacques bartending in Avon. Mt. at the Rainbow Bar! He had this to say on complex discourses and I think it is pretty accessible ( we had already had quite a few rounds!):

Sure I had to look up "aporia" and I am SO glad I did because Jacques gave me a word I have needed over and over : "an irresolvable internal contradiction or logical disjunction in a text, argument ,or theory."
Thanks to Jacques I have a title for the last post ( and many to follow) on complexity, intellectualism, tension and vertiginous uncertainty.Democracy, Freedom, Liberty, all at some point run into an aporia and Jacques brilliantly suggests we use it to "open the avenue of great debate".
I'm still of the opinion that in the matter of chicken or egg we first need to dismantle and replace capitalist social relations before we can have that debate but it might be that the debate itself is the opening "scene". So I'm playing it both ways!
By the way, interesting coincidence with the START treaty and the Kyrgyzstan revolt. The Great Game is never far from the surface it seems. Karzai, Putin, Netenyahu, all pushing back at the late, great Empire.
A final thought on the W.Virginia coal miners and all the signs asking God to help, for prayers, and Jesus and heaven. As soon as the rubble is cleared there will be a line stretching down the block of God fearing miners ready to get a non-union job and climb down the hole. The Tulip Revolution was replaced by a real one in Kyrgyzstan. They even set up Soviet like structures. In short, within the confines of capitalism and the narrow borders of that country, the new government won't be able to do much.
I don't think in Kyrgyzstan, they dismantled capitalist relations first. They did step on the stage of history.

The US acted unilaterally under Clinton in Kosovo, with Russian permission. It went to their head, now they are stuck in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Give Tony Judt's piece on the problems of income disparity created by capitalism's absolute failure to reasonably distribute resources a read. Good stuff, it will at least make a centrist out of you.

Judt always returns to social democracy. He argues persuasively that it is the best we can do and that the inherent contradictions can be resolved but I'm still swingin for the bleachers.
Aporia is not my greatest worry. Certainty and deadly logic are the threat. Understandable as a reaction to what Zygmunt Bauman is calling "liquid modernity".

It's not only Beakerkin, it's the whole right. They laud Jonah Goldberg, who calls the French Revolution fascist. Take Beakerkin who quotes from a book, that says Russia didn't have a revolution in 1917, it was coup. The Tea Party calls Mitt Romney socialist.
If you don't know the difference between a democratic and a fascist revolution, how can you have any dialog?
Don't be too hard on Beakerkin. He doesn't have the capacity for the dialog you want. Him and his movement can't tell a coup from a revolution. Insight from the right would be a miracle.
